What Is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage, often called MLD, is a very gentle massage technique that supports lymphatic circulation and natural fluid movement in the body. The pressure used is extremely light — often described as the weight of a nickel or feather — because the lymphatic vessels are close to the surface of the skin.

This is not deep tissue, Swedish massage, or muscle/knot work. MLD uses slow, rhythmic, intentional movements designed to encourage lymph flow, support fluid circulation, and calm the nervous system.

How MLD Is Different From Regular Massage

This is not deep tissue, Swedish massage, or muscle/knot work. MLD uses slow, rhythmic, intentional movements designed to encourage lymph flow, support fluid circulation, and calm the nervous system.

🌿

The experience

What It Feels Like

Manual Lymphatic Drainage feels much lighter than most people expect. The work is slow, rhythmic, and calming — not intense or painful.

After a session, possible responses may include feeling light, relaxed, energized, sleepy, clear-headed, or emotionally released. Some people notice more frequent urination, changes in sleep, or mild nausea as the body responds.

What Areas Are Included

A full MLD session follows the natural pathways of your lymphatic system. Clients are professionally draped throughout, with only the working area uncovered. Comfort and modesty are always prioritized.

We work in several areas you may not be used to in a regular massage such as arm pits, inside of the elbow and behind the knees. These areas are a big part of the lymphatic system.

Abdominal work is an important part of the lymphatic pathway and is always performed gently and respectfully.
